In South Africa, the N4-N6 Social Auxiliary Work certifications are part of the National Certificate (Vocational) program, designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in social service work.

  • At this introductory level, students are introduced to the fundamentals of social work, including human behavior, social welfare policies, and basic counseling techniques. They learn about the role of social auxiliary workers in assisting vulnerable populations.
  • N5
  • Building on N4, this level covers topics such as community development, casework, crisis intervention, and support services for at-risk groups. Students develop skills in working with individuals and families in need.
  • N6
  • The final level focuses on strategic HRM, organizational development, and HR policy implementation. Students learn about workplace psychology, change management, and leadership strategies, preparing them for HR leadership roles.
