The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education that equips them with academic knowledge, practical skills, and critical thinking abilities. The curriculum is structured into two major levels: Ordinary Level (O-Level) and Advanced Level (A-Level), covering Forms 1 to 6.
The O-Level program introduces students to foundational subjects across various disciplines, preparing them for national examinations. The curriculum emphasizes core academic subjects, practical applications, and problem-solving skills. Students develop analytical thinking and a solid knowledge base to prepare for further studies or vocational training.
The A-Level program is designed for students who wish to specialize in specific subject areas, preparing them for higher education or professional careers. Students select three to four subjects that align with their career aspirations and university requirements.
Students in the Matric Rewrite program will receive in-depth subject revision, exam preparation strategies, and personalized academic support. The program covers core subjects such as Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Business Studies, Accounting, and English, among others. It also focuses on time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to help students achieve better results.
At the end of Form 4, students sit for the ZIMSEC Ordinary Level (O-Level) examinations. Successful candidates receive the ZIMSEC O-Level Certificate, which qualifies them for A-Level studies or vocational training.
At the end of Form 6, students sit for the ZIMSEC Advanced Level (A-Level) examinations. Successful candidates receive the ZIMSEC A-Level Certificate, which qualifies them for university admission or specialized vocational training.
